Start with your actual day
Write down when you get home, any clubs or lessons and when dinner happens. Keep the fixed things fixed, rather than squeezing a perfect timetable around them.
Choose your first move
A first move should be so clear that you do not need to plan how to start it. “Get changed” is easier to begin than “be organised”.
Give breaks a place
Being at school is tiring. Choose a break length you can actually keep and put it in the plan, instead of hoping a break somehow fits.
Check what is due
Look at tomorrow’s deadlines before choosing flexible activities. Make space for test preparation on a few different days.
Make it yours
If you are the student, pick which of two flexible tasks comes first. If you are helping, offer the choice rather than deciding every detail.
When it slips, reset
Missed a time? Look at what cannot move and choose a new first step. You do not need to start the whole day again.
Try it this week
Try writing down just four or five actions for tomorrow. Check whether you can follow them without someone explaining the plan.
